This Dam serves as the primary storage reservoir for the River Kali hydropower project, which has a total installed capacity of 1180 megawatts (MW). This capacity includes the main Nagzari powerhouse, which has a capacity of 810 MW.
Situated at the base of the dam, the powerhouse features two electricity generators, each with a capacity of 50 MW. The hydroelectricity generated from this facility is distributed to various parts of Karnataka to meet the region’s power needs.
The Supa Dam was Constructed by Hindustan Steel Works Construction Limited. It is currently owned, operated, and managed by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited. The powerhouse became operational in the year 1985, contributing significantly to the state’s hydroelectric power generation efforts.

Initially if you are not in Dandeli, then I would suggest you to reach Dandeli bus stand, then the thing which you should consider is vehicle, if you have your own vehicle then there is not much problem, but if you are coming to Dandeli from other cities then that too by public transport like bus or train, then you would need to hire a vehicle, you can get down at the Dandeli bus stand and rent a vehicle like a two wheeler or four wheeler.

When you come out of Dandeli Bus Stand, you will see two paths, the right path leads to Dandeli’s market and the left one takes you to Ganeshgudi Supa Dam.
So you have to take the left path. Go straight 1.8 km, on this road you will see many landmarks like Municipality office and Patil Nursing Home, and after descending straight you will see the famous Sai Baba Mandir, go straight till you reach 1.8 km from Dandeli bus stand.
You have to turn right and drive to 100 meters which will connect you to Barchi road and after connecting that road you have to ride straight for 4.7 km, and you will reach Barchi cross where you have to take left, after that just go ahead for 16 km and you will reach Ganeshgudi Supa Dam.
